Love Your Neighbor

“…You shall love your neighbor as yourself’. Love does no harm to a neighbor….”  Romans 13:9-10

Hi Neighbor,

May I ask you to take just a few moments to read this brief message?  Don’t worry, I’m not selling anything or trying to get something from you.  But I am very serious about my obligation to love you, as summarized in the Bible text written above.  I realize that it is very easy to talk about loving our neighbors, but quite another thing to actually love them. Loving others, as we naturally love ourselves, is another way of saying, ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’

Perhaps you will agree that this kind of love is very rare in our day.  The evils of this generation, which include: social violence, racial hatred, domestic abuse, drug addiction, sexual immorality, and a multitude of other moral disorders, are all evidences that we are living in what the Bible describes as “PERILOUS TIMES.”

When you and I were born, we came into this world with nothing, except for the natural abilities, tendencies, and character traits that God gave us through our parents. But spiritually speaking, you and I came into this world (like all the rest of mankind) with an infinite hole in our souls—a spiritual hole that craves to be filled. Each of us has attempted to fill this void with the things we see around us, and some of us have discovered the absolute futility of such an effort.
